Q: What makes SVA Wealth Management different from other firms?
A:

We're Independent. SVA Wealth Management is a Registered Investment Adviser. That means we are independent, with no proprietary products to sell. Our compensation comes solely from the fees paid by clients for services provided. Our duty as a Registered Investment Adviser is to act on behalf of and in the best interest of our clients.

Comprehensive. We bring together a team of people with the knowledge and expertise best suited for your unique situation. We work closely with our CPA firm to evaluate your tax situation and how strategies might enhance your financial plan. We currently have five CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professionals on staff to help you reach your financial goals. We are affiliated with leading industry groups, including the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards (CFP Board), National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA), and the Financial Planning Association (FPA).

Respected. SVA Wealth Management was named one of the “Best Managed Firms” by Schwab Institutional and Moss Adams LLP in 2007 – the only Wisconsin firm and one of only 29 firms nationwide.

Q: How do you charge for your services?
A: As a fee-only Registered Investment Adviser, we receive no commissions on your investments. The only fees we receive come from you, the client. We charge a flat fee for financial planning and investment consulting services and an annual fee based on assets under management for investment advisory services.
Q: Describe SVA Wealth Management’s investment philosophy.
A:

Everyone’s needs are different, but our firm’s investment philosophy remains consistent. We focus on asset allocation, diversification, risk management, and cost control when investing our clients’ funds. We maintain a long-term focus on market performance. We do not attempt to time the market or chase returns by moving in and out based on market fluctuations.

We start by identifying target asset classifications across seven broad risk objectives, each with different exposures to stocks, bonds and cash. We then focus on diversifying portfolios within each risk objective to provide exposure to domestic and international securities, large and small companies, and the growth and value investment strategies. We also provide our clients with exposure to non-highly correlated investments such as commodities, natural resources and global real estate.

Q: How do you choose your investments for client portfolios?
A:

Our investment team selects and evaluates the investments within our clients’ portfolios. We use a wide scope of tools to evaluate thousands of investment options that fit into our chosen asset classifications.

Once the top funds are chosen for our model portfolios, we conduct ongoing analysis and monitor the investments. Our investment manager reviews the markets and mutual fund performance regularly against similar investments within their category.

Through careful analysis and evaluation by a number of professionals, we work diligently to ensure we are allocating your funds in the most efficient way possible for you to reach your goals.

Q: Do you hold client assets?
A:

SVA Wealth Management does not physically hold client assets. We may recommend that clients establish brokerage accounts with the Schwab Institutional, Schwab Retirement Plan Services or Charles Schwab Trust Company divisions of Charles Schwab & Company.

SVA Wealth Management is independently owned and is not affiliated with Schwab. You may grant SVA Wealth Management authorization to execute transactions on your behalf, but you ultimately remain in control of your assets.

Q: Does SVA Wealth Management have a minimum portfolio size?
A: We currently have a minimum account size of $150,000 and a minimum annual fee of $1,500.
Q: How long has SVA Wealth Management been in business?
A:

Suby, Von Haden & Associates, S.C. established SVA Planners, Inc. in 1987 to assist clients who requested assistance in managing their personal wealth. In 2007, the name was changed to SVA Wealth Management to better describe the business to potential clients.

Today, SVA Wealth Management, Registered Investment Adviser, helps more than 850 clients in fulfilling their financial planning and investment management needs. The firm manages approximately $750 million in assets.

Q: Who is SVA?
A: Founded in 1974, Suby, Von Haden & Associates, S.C. (SVA) began as a Certified Public Accounting firm and retains that character today. SVA and its affiliates in the SVA Companies serve clients nationwide from offices in southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois. SVA is the parent company of SVA Wealth Management.
